All dogs bark for various reasons and some may include trying to warn the owner of their problems, or to express any pain or fright. Other times, constantly barking can be considered negative behavior as long as we, the people are affected. Dogs in this category are trying to be menacing or simply trying to gain attention.
Although the dogs bark for a number of reasons, one is constantly barking dog is considered to owners of dogs and a nuisance to neighbours and there may enter a time when some extreme measures must be employed to monitor continuously barking dog.
So far, the best way to control the constant barking is to train the dog not bark, or more precisely to bark only at appropriate times. There are several ways to do so, but dog trainers generally agree that traditional prize and a reprimand systems are the most effective and kindest to use.
Some people opt for electronic “bark collar” as a shortcut to training your dog. In the collar contains an electronic device that is activated by the action of the dog when it starts barking. The device offers a small electric shock that pain and startles the dog. Eventually the dog is able to associate the negative incentive to stop barking and doing it.
The problems with these systems are many, however. Some dogs simply can not learn that barking is the reason for the negative incentive, and they will continue to bark, although it causes discomfort. Especially furry dogs may not even feel the shock or activate the device because its metal letters should be contacted directly through the skin in order to deliver a shock. More often then not, the collar itself is not sufficient and should be supported with training anyway.
If not using bark collar, use it only for short periods of time and not a long period of time.
While these collars provide only mild pain, most people would agree that the use of bark collar would seem to be cruel to the dog. Use a bark collar for short periods of time will not harm the dog.
But another type of collar that works on the same principle will export the fog of citronella in front of the nose of a dog. Dogs hate the smell of citronella and will soon realize that it is caused by barking. Success rates for citronella collars are comparable to those of electronic collars.
Another method of controlling the dog constantly barking and the most inhumane is to have the dog de-barking undergo surgery. This procedure involves removing least one tissue around the larynx of a dog, we can not do the conversion crust. In the surgery does not always work and most veterinarians will not recommend this extreme measure.
